Sympathy cards for a Shipmate

Hello. Unfortunately,
a shipmate of my husband's passed away in a motorcycle wreck. I made 2 cards tonight for him to take to work tomorrow. Sorry for the horrible pictures, I usually take my pictures in daylight. Anyhoo, I used the My Little Firecracker set from MyCreativeTime to make the background on this card. I stamped it with navy Hero Arts Shadow Ink.
I white heat embossed the greeting from the Everyday Sayings from Hero Arts. Finished it off with a punched Martha Stewart anchor. And here's the other card I made...a little more elaborate.  Again, sorry the pictures are horrible...
The colors on this card are white, navy, and aqua...totally awful pictures!
I cut a circle out for my window and embossed the panel with the Stars Cuttlebug folder. I stamped the waves and anchor inside from a Market Street Stamps set that is no longer available, sorry. I filled the window with sequins from Neat And Tangled.
The greeting is from the Happy Homecoming set by MyCreativeTime. By the way, "fair winds and following seas" is a Navy term and is suitable for a sympathy card...in case you were wondering.

Remember to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you. Life really is short.

Shut the front door! :)

Hello, and happy Friday! Here is my homework for the last day of Summer Card Camp 2. Sniffle, it has been fun! I snapped some pictures while I was making this card today, I figured that would be easier than trying to explain it with words. :)
I cut masks from Post-It craft paper with the Stitched Round Speech Bubbles and the Stitched Square Speech Bubbles from MyCreativeTime. I used both the negative and positive cuts.

Positioned my Heidi Swapp mask...

Sponge on Tide Pool ink and outline the bubble with a black marker...

Remove the positive mask and replace it with the negative mask. Most of the blue chevron bubble is covered, but you can see the little "tail" sticking out...

Ink up the long bubble with Butter Bar ink over another Heidi Swapp mask, and outline that with a black marker too...

For this last bubble, I turned that same chevron mask the other way and inked with Pale Tomato shadow ink. :)
I stamped the greetings from the Things I Love set from MyCreativeTime. I ♥ ♥ ♥ Shut the front door! ;)
To finish, I added the dude from the Stitched Restroom Peeps dies from MyCreativeTime...and some fabulous Crystal Clear sequins from Neat And Tangled

I hope you have a FABULOUS weekend!

Smile...sequins! :)

Hiya! Here is my homework for Summer Card Camp 2 today. I used the Stitched Hexy Dies from MyCreativeTime to cut out my "windows". I then traced them onto another piece of cardstock so I'd know where to glue my sequins. And then it's just a matter of gluing the sequins down, my favorite part!  Soooooooo relaxing to me. Then I put a bunch of pop dots around the sequins to pop up the front panel so it sits level over them.
I white heat embossed the greeting from the Things I Love set from MyCreativeTime on vellum and put it behind one of the hexagons. I used Perfectly Purple, Lovely Lilac, Ocean Breeze, and Crystal Clear sequins from Neat And Tangled

Have a sequin-tastic day! ;)

♥ Nikki ♥

p.s. I use glossy accents to glue down my sequins. A little dab...sequin...a little dab...sequin...

Tag it Tuesday

We have a new feature over at MyCreativeTime today. We are making tags. I used the Tag Dies to cut my tag. The black thingy over the hole is from the new Stitched Round Tab, Arrow, And Tag Dies. Then I stamped the new Hexy Background with butter bar shadow ink. Over that I used a mask by Heidi Swapp {from Michaels} to make the butterflies. I sponged them on with orange soda and pale tomato shadow inks.
I stamped the greeting from Polka Dot Surprise with my favorite Ranger Archival Black Ink. To finish it off I added sequins and gems.

Head over to MyCreativeTime to see more tag creations.

I thank my lucky stars for you!

Hello! Here is my homework for Summer Card Camp 2 today. I finally got to make a card tonight after 8 hours of a horrible migraine...boo! Anyhoo...I followed a color scheme and sketch from today, but flipped the sketch on its side. I used the Cricut Craft Room and my Baby Steps cartridge to cut out the star on the card front. Before making the shaker I stamped the stripes from the On The Strip 2 set from Neat And Tangled. I used soft pool and soft purple shadow inks and wisteria colorbox fluid chalk ink {darker purple}.
I made my shaker and stamped the acetate with that sweet face from the new July 2013 set from PeachyKeenStamps. The cool thing about stamping on acetate is that if you mess up you can just use stazon cleaner and try again. :) I filled the window with Crystal Clear, Perfectly Purple, Lovely Lilac, and Ocean Breeze sequins from Neat And Tangled.  The greeting is from the Year Round Sentiments set by Hero Arts.
I also put some beads in the shaker window with the sequins.

If being addicted to sequins is wrong, I don't wanna be right. ;)

Warm Winter Wishes

Aloha, Peachies! ;) I live in Florida, and I made this to send home to Chicagoland when the weather turns cold. Funny to me, perhaps not so much to them freezing in the North. HA! Anyhoo, I started by inking up the Cloudy Day Background with Soft Cantaloupe, Fresh Peach, and Pale Tomato Hero Arts Shadow Inks. I give it a really good smush when I stamp it, and the colors blend great! This works best with a Stamp Press. If you don't have one, you need one. Seriously. ♥ it!
I stamped and paper pieced the palm tree from the June 2013 set. Then I stamped the adorable penguin from the July 2013 set with Charcoal Hero Arts Shadow Ink and paper pieced it too. The greeting is from the Smitten Mittens set. I cut it apart to make it long instead of stacked. :)

I hope you have a Peach-tastical weekend! :)

You're so special to me "Circle Shaker"

Hello! Here is my homework for Summer Card Camp 2 today. :) I wish I could have gotten better photo's. The glare on the window makes it tough. Anyhoo, I made my circle card with spellbinders dies. I cut a circle out of the card base and out of the card front so I could make a window all the way through. I stamped the card front with the Wood Background from Hero Arts. {it's supposed to look a little shabby} I stamped the greeting from Year Round Sentiments by Hero Arts on the inside of the card. Here's how I put it together...
I filled my window with sequins from Neat And Tangled. I LOVE having the window show all the way through. Super cool! :) TIP- I use the Scotch foam tape on the roll. This would take forever if you used foam squares! LOL
It's cool to see the sequins fall down from the inside when you open it...And the person who gets it will no doubt be wowed! ;) Hallmark doesn't do that! ;)
I ♥ shaker cards. :)

I hope you're have a splendid day!

For my card today I used the fabulous new Stitched Square Speech Bubble Dies. I cut 2 out of the front panel, and one to pop up. I ♥ using the negative space left behind after die cutting...more bang for your buck! Score!
I stamped the greeting from the new  Treasured Moments set with Charcoal Hero Arts Shadow Ink. I forgot to mention that the patterned paper I used is from the Boy Crazy collection from My Mind's Eye. I finished it off with some butterflies and sequins from Neat And Tangled.

Lookin' Good

Hello! Today is the start of the 2nd week of Summer Card Camp 2. I followed the color scheme for this week and used one of the sketches as a starting point. I picked up the Hey Boy and Hey Girl 6x6 pads by Basic Grey at Joann yesterday... the Hey Boy collection was perfect for our color combo this week! Yay! Anyhoo, I used the numbers from the new Stitched 4x6 Journal Die to die cut my "40" for my shaker window. I glued the die cut panel over my acetate, and then glued the acetate piece under the front panel.
I filled the shaker window with sequins from Neat And Tangled. That cool little button that says "lookin' good" is also from the Hey Boy collection by Basic Grey.
I really like how this turned out. {which is good because it took me all day, HA} It's for my brother who will be hitting the big 40 soon. :)

My Creative Time Sneak Peek

Hello! Hey lookie here...another window/shaker card. Shocker! ;) I used the Stitched Cartoon Cloud Dies. from My Creative Time to make my windows. I cut one of them from the back of the cardstock to make the cloud face in the other direction. I traced the openings to figure out where to put the patterned paper.
I stamped the greeting  from the Chocolate Greetings set with StazOn ink on the window. I filled the windows with sequins from Neat and Tangled.
To finish, I popped up white clouds from the Stitched Cartoon Clouds Dies

Head over to My Creative Time for more sneaks.

Floating Shaker Card

Soooo...I think this may be my new favorite card ever! In today's Summer Card Camp 2 class, Kristina made a window card. If you follow my blog, you know that saying I'm addicted to window/shaker cards lately is a complete understatement! Well, I had the idea today to step it up a notch and make what I'm going to call a "Floating Shaker" card. Floating because the goodies in the window shake and float between two pieces of acetate. To start, I die cut my window on the front panel and on the actual card itself. Then I cut 2 pieces of acetate with the next bigger circle die.
I stamped the front panel with the new Hexy Background Stamp from MyCreativeTime with Soft Granite Hero Arts Shadow Ink. I stamped the greeting from the It's All About You set on the inside of the card with Charcoal Hero Arts Shadow Ink.
I filled the floating shaker window with Pretty Pretty Pink, Just Peachie, Mint, Buttercream, and Crystal Clear sequins from Neat And Tangled
I forgot to mention that I pulled my color scheme from today's class. ♥

I just ♥ how it turned out! :)

I hope you're having a fabulous day!!!

Summer Card Camp 2 Challenge

Well folks, it's a miracle. The challenge in Summer Card Camp 2 today was to create a card in 10 minutes, and I did it! I DID IT! I have tried before to make a card in 10 minutes and failed miserably! LOL!!! I die cut the "hello" with the Lower Case Fun Dies from MyCreativeTime. I left out the middles to the e and o because I thought it looked cool. :)
I splattered picked raspberry, squeezed lemonade, and peacock feathers distress ink...and orange soda shadow ink. To finish it off, I added Crystal Clear sequins from Neat and Tangled

♥ Nikki ♥

p.s. I made this card in 9 minutes 32 seconds. :)

MyCreativeTime Sneaks Day 2 **you may need sunglasses** :)

Helloooooo neon! :) I am super loving neon right now! I used Hero Arts Neon Pink, Neon Orange, and Neon Yellow inks. I rubbed the neon yellow ink pad on some cardstock and dried it. Then I stamped the Large Sun from PeachyKeenStamps on it. I masked the face it has and gave it that adorable face from the June 2013 set from PeachyKeenStamps
Finished it off with Crystal Clear sequins.

Head over to MyCreativeTime to see more sneaks!!! And it's GAME TIME!!!

MyCreativeTime Sneak...and Partial Die Cutting

Hello! I made this card with the NEW products from MyCreativeTime. I did some partial die cutting. I love how it turned out! I first made that polka dot piece with a Heidi Swapp mask and tide pool, butter bar, and orange soda shadow inks. I set that aside to dry and made the partially die cut portion. I snapped some pics along the way to show how I  did it.
First I drew a line at 2 inches from the top of my cardstock. And then a line under that at 1/8 of an inch down. I lined the new dies up with the bottom line and used washi tape to hold them in place.
Then I lined up the top line I drew with the edge of the cutting plates in my Big Shot machine. This leaves the very ends of the numbers sticking out, and that part won't cut. This will make it so that the numbers only partially cut.
Here you can see what it looks like with the dies removed, but before cutting along the top line. And here it is after cutting...
And there you have it. Partial die cutting. :) And here's the side view of the card...

You may have noticed the "how-to" pics are of a white piece of cardstock. White showed up better, and I was experimenting. ;)
